Very tasty local place. Had fried chicken wings, a sushi boat with spicy salmon, spicy crab and eel rolls, and strawberry mochi ice cream for desert. Portions are very generous, was enough for feed 3 hungry people. Definitely one of the best local sushi spots. They also have a bar here.

Great food, fresh ingredients, attractive deals, upscale interior, and plenty of parking. John's Sushi opened its doors recently and is situated in a remarkable location. The house, completed in 1683, is the oldest surviving historical building in the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia's Northeast. It successively housed the original "Inn", then "Overpeck's & Wright General Merchandise, followed by the Old Dutch Kitchen, Old Brauhaus, Blue Ox Brauhaus, Blue Ox Bistro, and, finally, Hop Angel Brauhaus which went out of business during Covid-19 pandemics. The food is great, the menu is impressively extensive, and John's Sushi even serves some high-end dishes such as Foie Gras Sushi served with Beluga caviar and edible golden flakes, A5 Japanese Wagyu Nigiri, hard-to-find Uni (sea urchin) rolls, etc. However, the restaurant also offers amazing deals. For example: any 6 regular rolls are offered at 32.95. Considering that some of the regular rolls are priced at 6.90 a piece, you get almost 9 in savings. The interior is pleasing with most of the tables featuring booth seating allowing for a better private dining experience. There is plenty of parking in the back (located toward the corner of Offord Street and Burholm Ave). Highly recommended.

Order the family tray from John's and I wasn't disappointed! Their sushi chef is, well, chef's kiss. We ordered it to go and the only knock was my wait time. I was initially peaved, but the food was worth the wait. There were a lot of sushi orders at the same time, but it didn't seem that busy on a Sunday afternoon. A lot of the former anesthetic from Blue Hops Angel and...whatever else this place used to be (sorry, there's just too much to remember) still remains. There are some updates that makes it more Japanese/Asian, but it's nothing crazy. I was extremely happy with my meal, especially because the other local sushi spot on this side of Northeast Philadelphia (Mr. Sushi) is not nearly as good as it used to be when it was Makiman. If you're craving sushi, don't want to head to Center City, or South Philly, give John's a try. You won't regret it.

I was treated to John's Sushi House last night for a birthday dinner by my roommate and family. Our server was warm and friendly, and extremely helpful; our dishes were utterly fantastic (try the sushi boat for two; it's a work of art!). The presentation was wonderful, the aesthetic in this restaurant is always outstanding, and I was glad to see they were quite busy. We make it a point to visit John's at least once a month, because we love the staff and the dishes, and they even treated me to a birthday cheesecake with a candle on top! The boat was a favorite, my steak and chicken hibachi never fails to satisfy, and it was just a generally wonderful visit. Five stars every single time we visit; thanks again for another outstanding meal, guys!

I came in to eat a few times with some friends and often order take out. The food is always very good and is ready in a timely manner. John is a very friendly person along with the rest of the staff. The host is very handsome. Between the soft instrumental music and the light colors inside, the atmosphere is relaxing and beautiful.

I’m a huge fan of sushi and have tried *many* different places in the Northeast but I can’t think of another place that compares to John’s Sushi House. From the Sushi Spring Roll, to the Blue Ocean, Volcano, Dragon, to the classics like the Bostons and the Californias — you can taste the quality in the ingredients. Plus the presentation? Cherry on top. It’s all so good and I highly recommend. I see myself coming back and trying more things on the menu!

Food is very good each delivery I've received. Jalapeno poppers are a hidden gem and love the pick 3 sushi rolls
